Strong earthquake off Tonga poses no tsunami threat to Hawaii
A preliminary magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Tonga Tuesday, but does not pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii.
The temblor struck 79 miles west-northwest off Pangai, Tonga at 2:30 p.m. Hawaii time at a depth of 112 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
No advisories or warnings were issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
No injuries were immediately reported.
