Social worker dies of heart ailment after collapsing at OCCC
A social worker at the Oahu Community Correctional Center collapsed Friday at the facility and was later pronounced dead of a heart ailment, state Department of Public Safety officials said.
The 45-year-old social worker, whose name was not released, collapsed at about 11:25 a.m., the department said in a news release.
Attempts to revive the social worker were made and he was transported to Kuakini Medical Center, where preliminary reports indicated he suffered a “cardiac event.”
“We are awaiting the medical examiner’s final report to determine official cause of death,” officials said.
