Hamamoto misses out on Web.com Tour
Two-time Hawaii state high school champion Jarett Hamamoto fired 71 in the final two rounds of last week’s Web.com Tour Q-School second stage and missed advancing by five shots.
Hamamoto, from Hilo, shot 2-under-par 286 to tie for 38th at Brooksville, Fla. The top 19 and ties move on to next month’s final Q-School, and gain status on the 2015 Web.com Tour.
In Kingwood, Texas, Punahou graduate Parker McLachlin closed with consecutive 76s to tie for 45th at 302. The top 18 and ties — at 295 or better — advanced. McLachlin won the 2008 Reno-Tahoe Open on the PGA Tour.
Former Hawaii Pearl Open champ John Ellis (298) was 64th in McKinney, Texas.
Hayashi drops in Senior PGA Professional
A final-round 76 dropped Hilo’s Kevin Hayashi 14 spots, to 59th, at the 26th Senior PGA Professional National Championship. The tournament ended last Saturday at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Hayashi, a Hawaii Golf Hall of Famer who works at Nanea Golf Club, opened with rounds of 73-70-73.
Maui Nui Golf Club’s Kirk Nelson, the Aloha Section PGA’s other qualifier, did not make the cut.
