BYUH drops doubleheader at Dixie State
Junior ace Michelle Duncan gave up one hit — a single by Alexa Barrett to open the third — and Dixie State completed a sweep of Monday’s doubleheader against Brigham Young-Hawaii with a 2-0 victory in Saint George, Utah.
In the opener, the conference-leading Red Storm (37-8, 21-5) pounded out 24 hits in taking the opener 10-0 in five innings. The Seasiders (10-16, 6-14) managed just four hits, the only extra-base one being Kaylynn Latu’s double in the third.
The second game featured Duncan (11-1), who struck out seven and walked two. Keagan Hanny (2-2) took the loss, striking out three with one walk in giving up eight hits, including a run-scoring triple in the fourth and an RBI double in the fifth.
BASEBALL
Sea Warriors split with Cougars
Chad Bolibol’s three-run homer to left highlighted a six-run sixth inning as Hawaii Pacific rallied past Azusa Pacific 9-6 in Monday’s first game of a doubleheader at Hans L’Orange Park.
The Cougars (22-14, 15-9) salvaged a split when they scored four runs in the top of the seventh for an 8-4 victory over the Sea Warriors (27-15, 17-13) in the second game. APU remained in second place in the conference, a game ahead of HPU and five games behind leader Dixie State (26-13, 20-4).
GOLF
Vulcans in sixth at Stanislaus Invitational
The Hawaii Hilo men’s golf team was in sixth place heading into Tuesday’s final round at the 41st Hanny Stanislaus Invitational in Turlock, Calif.
The Vulcans were at 602 after Monday’s two rounds at the Turlock Golf & Country Club. Cal State Monterey Bay and Chico State were tied for the lead in the 19-team field at 585.
Corey Kozuma was UHH’s top golfer, tied for 16th at 149 following a second-round 77.
After the tournament concludes Tuesday, the Vulcans then join the rest of the PacWest teams at the conference championships, Friday and Saturday, at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo, Calif.
HALL OF FAME
Nominations open for UHH hall of fame
Hawaii Hilo is accepting nominations for its Vulcans Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2014.
The four categories are: athlete, coach, administrator and community member. The deadline is May 31.
Nominated athletes must have completed their eligibility at UHH prior to the end of the spring 2008 season. Exceptions may be made due to physical/medical reasons. Graduation from UHH is not a requirement, but graduates will receive preference from the selection committee.

SOCCER
Hawaii Pacific offers soccer camp
The fourth Sea Warriors Summer Soccer Camp, focusing on improvement of basic skills and techniques, is scheduled for June 3-6 at Hawaii Pacific’s Hawaii Loa campus.
The camp runs daily from 9 a.m. until noon at Atherton Field and is open to boys and girls ages 6 through 14.
Campers will be divided into groups by age and skill level. Online registration is available at goseawarriors.com.
