‘Hawaii Five-0′ hits the big One-0-0
It still has a ways to go before matching the original’s longevity, but CBS’ current "Hawaii Five-0" reboot is to be congratulated for marking its 100th episode Friday.
Fans of the kitschy original will recall that Jack Lord & Co. made it to a dozen seasons, from 1968-1980. It’s still a kick to catch it in syndication, and to be entertained by the dialogue, local talent and scenery from a bygone era.
Hitting 100 episodes is said to enhance a series’ chances for syndication success. So to Alex O’Loughlin & Co., we raise our mai tais and wish you more years of aloha.
Souki throws local GOP under the bus?
Back when state Rep. Joe Souki needed the small Hawaii House Republican caucus to topple Rep. Calvin Say from the speaker’s job, he gave out committee vice chairmanships in exchange for their support. A lot of things were said about bipartisanship. Now that he has the speakership locked up, not so much.
It must be really galling for the GOP here to see the big red wave of Republican victories sweep across the country and realize that there’s so little love in the establishment for them here.
