Hawaii Pacific upsets Cal Baptist
Sanoe Recca put down 21 kills to lead Hawaii Pacific over Cal Baptist on Monday, handing the Lancers their second loss in a row.
Kasey Thompson added 13 kills for the Sea Warriors (9-7, 3-5) at St. Andrew’s Priory Gym.
Ingrid Carmona had 14 kills to lead the Lancers (15-4, 8-2), who lost for the first time on Saturday against Brigham Young-Hawaii.
Azusa Pacific sweeps Hawaii-Hilo
Jackie Landers had 21 kills to lead Azusa Pacific to a three-set sweep of Hawaii-Hilo on Monday night in Hilo.
Sophie Burns had 33 assists for the Cougars (14-7, 6-5) in the 25-21, 25-16, 25-21 win.
Bria Morgan led the Vulcans (4-13, 4-7) with 24 kills.
Seasiders up to No. 8 in poll
After three straight-set wins last week, Brigham Young-Hawaii moved up two spots to No. 8 in Monday’s AVCA Coaches Division II women’s volleyball poll.
The Seasiders, 13-2 overall, share the conference lead at 8-0 with Fresno Pacific. BYUH next hosts Hawaii-Hilo on Friday at Cannon Activities Center.
Hagemeyer earns weekly honor
Brigham Young-Hawaii senior outside hitter Lauren Hagemeyer was named the conference player of the week in women’s volleyball after leading the Seasiders to a 3-0 week.
Hagemeyer led the conference in hitting percentage at .579 with 37 kills as BYUH defeated Azusa Pacific, Point Loma and Cal Baptist, all in straight sets. She also had eight block assists in nine sets.
Honor roll
Ying Chun Chen, BYUH: The sophomore setter had 100 assists as the Seasiders went 3-0.
Haley Doerfler, HPU: The sophomore middle had 14 blocks as the Sea Warriors went 1-1.
Bria Morgan, UHH: Although the Vulcans went 0-2, the freshman hitter led the conference in kills per set (6.17) and points per set (6.67). She had 37 kills and 40 points, including three aces.

Men’s honor roll
Jose Furman, CU: The freshman forward scored the match-winning goal in the 71st minute as the Silverswords won on the road, 1-0 over Point Loma.
Sam Galloway, CU: The junior midfielder scored the Silverswords’ only goals in 3-1 and 5-1 road losses at Cal Baptist and Azusa Pacific.
Mael Lefebvre, HPU: The junior goalie stopped 12 of 13 shots while playing all 200 minutes as the Sea Warriors lost 1-0 at Grand Canyon and played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw at Dixie State.
Vincent Muscarella, UHH: The junior midfielder had two goals in the Vulcans’ 3-10 win at Point Loma.
James Puertas, BYUH: The freshman midfielder scored twice, including the game winner in overtime at Cal Baptist, as the Sea Warriors went 1-2-0.
Women’s honor roll
Megan McCain, BYUH: The junior goalie stopped 17 of 19 shots as the Seasiders went 1-2 on the road, including two 1-0 losses.
KaUa Wall, HPU: The senior forward out of Konawaena scored the match-winning goal in a 1-0 win at Dixie State.

Urli begins pro career in Sweden
Former Hawaii Pacific basketball player Fran Urli has signed a contract to play with Eco Orebro in Sweden.
In his one season as a Sea Warrior, the 6-foot-8 forward led HPU in points per game (11.3), free-throw attempts (140) and offensive rebounds. In his first pro game last week, he scored eight points.
