Woman drives car into Aina Haina business
No one was hurt when a silver Toyota sedan driven by an elderly woman jumped a curb and hit the glass front of a shop at Aina Haina Shopping Center at midday Monday.
The car smashed the left side of Bee Green Cleaners, pushing in the storefront a few inches.
"Significant damage was done to half of the storefront," said owner David Murphy.
"I heard a loud noise," said Shami Rafanan, the only employee at the cleaners at the time of the accident.
Rafanan said glass shattered 10 feet from her but that she was uninjured.
Customers eating outside Genki Sushi next door also were unhurt, said restaurant manager Matt Muranaka.
Fire Department personnel examined the driver and allowed her to go home with her son, who had arrived to pick her up.
