Warriors linebacker Tachibana allowed to resume practicing
Hawaii fourth-year junior Alema Tachibana will be allowed to resume practicing with the Warriors, pending the outcome of his driving-under-the-influence trial, which was rescheduled for Nov. 23.
Tachibana, a linebacker from Kahuku, had not been allowed to practice or participate in games since being arrested this past summer. But UH head coach Norm Chow has allowed Tachibana to return to practice, but he won’t be allowed to play in games.
He was prepared to go to trial today, but the state’s key witness, a police officer, called in sick. The state requested a new trial date. Tachibana’s attorney requested dismissal, claiming any delay would further hinder Tachibana’s chances of playing this season. The judge denied the request.
