Khil named soccer player of the year
Occidental (Calif.) sophomore forward Julie Khil was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player of the year in women’s soccer last Wednesday.
Khil, a 2013 graduate of Mid-Pacific, started all 16 games for the Tigers and netted a team-high eight goals and three assists.
Tigers teammate Michaela Tsuha (Punahou ’12) was named to the All-SCIAC first team, while Cal Lutheran defender Alli Calabrese (Maryknoll ’11) and Whittier (Calif.) senior Rachel Inouye (Punahou ’12) were selected to the second team.
Tsuha led the league with six assists in conference play and scored two goals. Calabrese started all 14 conference games and scored two goals with one game-winner. Inouye started all 18 games for the Poets.
Ritte-Camara first team in volleyball
Linfield (Ore.) senior Kailana Ritte-Camara, a 2011 graduate of Molokai, was named to the All-Northwest Conference first team in volleyball last week.
Ritte-Camara led the Wildcats in kills for the fourth consecutive season, averaging 2.81 per set to rank eighth in the conference. She also finished 10th in the conference in digs with 3.72 per set.
Ritte-Camara ended her career ranked fourth in school history in both kills (999) and digs (1,038). She is also 10th all-time with 83 total aces.
Whitman (Wash.) outside hitter Shae Kanakaole (Kamehameha-Hawaii ’13) and Lewis & Clark sophomore Alexe Navarro (Mid-Pacific ’13) were named to the second team.
Kanakaole ranked fourth in the conference with 281 total kills, while Navarro ranks 16th in the nation with 5.87 digs per set. Navarro is on pace to break the school record in digs.
