A 27-year-old Kaneohe man was in critical condition after the motorcycle he was riding crashed on the Pali Highway Saturday morning, authorities said.
The man, who suffered multiple injuries, was wearing no helmet, and speed and alcohol were not contributing factors in the crash, according to authorities.
The crash took place on the Honolulu-bound lane of the Pali Highway about a quarter-mile before Waokanaka Street, Honolulu police said.
For unknown reasons, the man went off the road and entered a grassy shoulder of the highway median before he was ejected from the vehicle and struck the roadway, police said.
The incident occurred close to 6:23 a.m. and involved a single motorcycle, according to the Honolulu Department of Emergency Services.
After the crash, traffic in the Honolulu-bound lanes of the Pali Highway was shut down.
Police reopened the road a couple of hours later.
