Man, 90, dies from injuries in September car crash in McCully
The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a 90-year-old Honolulu man who died Oct. 3 from injuries in a motor vehicle crash on Sept. 13 in McCully.
Walter Okumoto died of complications from head injuries due to a motor vehicle colision and probable previous head trauma, but the manner of death has been deferred, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
Police said Okumoto was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound on Citron Street when he disregarded a red signal and was broadsided by a blue 2006 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 29-year-old Kailua man at McCully and Citron streets.
Okumoto was taken to Kuakini Medical Center in good condition, but later died.
This was the 48th Oahu traffic fatality, compared with 46 the same time last year.
