Liliha man held as suspect in stabbing
A 21-year-old Liliha man is in custody following a stabbing early Tuesday in Mayor Wright Homes.
Police said a witness saw the suspect fighting with an 18-year-old man at 1:29 a.m. The witness said the suspect stabbed the victim and fled. He was arrested near his Liliha Street home at 2:15 a.m., on suspicion of attempted murder.
The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition with multiple stab wounds.
Last year at the same housing complex, a 32-year-old man died from stab wounds and three others were seriously injured after an argument.
Crash victim is ID’d as Wahiawa woman
A 19-year-old woman who died Sunday in a one-car crash has been identified as Shana Kieffer of Wahiawa.
Kieffer died from multiple traumatic injuries, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
She was driving a 2008 Chevy Malibu sedan when it crashed at about 6:45 a.m. Sunday in a ravine off Kamehameha Highway near Waikalani Drive in Mililani.
Police said she had been speeding town-bound on Kamehameha Highway, lost control of the car, went off the road and down the ravine.
Attack leads to attempted-murder arrest
A 42-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly trying to kill a 25-year-old man in Kailua.
The victim told police the suspect tried to harm him at about 4:40 a.m. Monday using a dangerous instrument. No further details were released.
The older man was arrested later Monday on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder and auto theft.
Man found dead below Pali Lookout
The body of a 44-year-old man was found at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday below the Pali Lookout.
Police found no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for today.
Honolulu man is rescued from Mauna Loa trail
Hikers and rescue personnel helped a 62-year-old Honolulu man who had become lost while hiking on the Mauna Loa access road trail Monday afternoon, the Hawaii County Fire Department said.
Responders treated the man for cold weather exposure, hypothermia and dehydration and took him to Hilo Medical Center.
Two hikers found the man about two miles from the weather station, the Fire Department said. Personnel from the county and Pohakuloa Training Area fire department responded at about 5:20 p.m. and helped the man down the mountain.
