UH Wahine Senior's (L-R) Kaia Parnaby looks on while Jessica Iwata hugs Kelly Majam as they celebrated their five graduating seniors after winning two games against UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at the Wahine Rainbow Softball Stadium.

University of Hawaii seniors Kaia Parnaby and Kelly Majam and junior Jazmine Zamora were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-West Region team today.

Parnaby was one of two pitchers named to the all-region first team. Majam also made the first team as an outfielder while Zamora, UH’s second baseman, was named to the second team.

The teams are voted upon by coaches from each region and the players selected are eligible for the NFCA Division I All-America teams.

The all-region selection is the third of Majam’s career. She made the first team as a freshman in 2010 and was a second-team pick last year. Parnaby and Zamora earned all-region honors for the first time in their UH careers.

The trio helped the Rainbow Wahine (43-11) win the Big West title and earn a berth in the NCAA tournament. UH opens play in the Seattle regional on Friday against Minnesota.

Longwood outfielder Kori Nishitomi, a Maryknoll graduate, made Southeast Region first team. ‘Iolani graduate and Washington third baseman Kimberlee Souza was a Pacific Region second-team selection.
