Man sentenced for kidnapping girlfriend, who was shot to death
A man who was acquitted of murder in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend was sentenced in Circuit Court this morning to 20 years in prison for kidnapping her five months before her shooting death.
Toi Nofoa, 34, was charged with abducting Royal Kaukani from her work place on Sept. 11, 2008 and of killing her on Mar. 27, 2009.
A state jury found Nofoa not guilty of murder last November.
A different jury found him guilty of kidnapping and threatening Kaukani in July.
