List your spring or Easter event

Spring into action with the Star-Advertiser Today section, which is planning a special guide to spring and Easter events to be published March 25. Businesses, clubs, schools and community groups are welcome to submit free listings for egg hunts, Easter Bunny photo ops, craft workshops, keiki activities, displays, rummage sales, craft fairs, Sunday brunches and other Easter- or spring-themed events happening on Oahu (no religious services, please). Take Polar Plunge for a good cause

Chill out while supporting Special Olympics Hawaii at the organization’s annual Polar Plunge, 9 a.m. March 29 at Waterfront Plaza’s makai lawn along Ala Moana Boulevard.

Participants will glide down an 80-foot inflatable water slide into a pool of ice water to raise funds for Special Olympics, which provides free year-round sports programs for people with intellectual disabilities.

Plungers are asked to raise a minimum of $100 by the day of the event. Individuals and teams are welcome to register online at www.specialolympicshawaii.org. Sign up before Friday and the fundraising minimum is only $75.

"Super Plungers" who raise at least $1,000 and ride the slide 12 times will receive a special prize package that includes a professional massage, meals throughout the day and entry into the new Post Plunge Hot Tub.

Special Olympics Hawaii supporters who prefer to stay dry during the event can opt for "Too Chicken to Plunge" status and raise funds, receive prize incentives and watch the festivities from the "chicken coop."

Teams that raise more than $1,000 will receive a customized Polar Plunge T-shirt featuring their company or group name. Other prizes will be handed out, and there will be food booths and entertainment.

Since 2008, Special Olympics Hawaii’s Polar Plunge has raised $218,504 for local athletes.

Kaiser Springfest features fun for all

Kaiser High School PTSA’s annual Springfest, "Welcome to Cougar Country," will celebrate Kaiser students and the community March 29.

A keiki fair from 3 to 6 p.m. will feature more than 25 student and vendor booths. Food trucks will be open from 4 to 8 p.m., and Natural Vibrations will perform in the stadium from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Scrip will be sold on-site for the keiki fair. Concert tickets are $20. For details, call 396-3818.
