Wahine sixth at Leilehua
The UHwomen’s golf team stands in sixth place entering the final round of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at Leilehua Golf Course.
The Wahine were led by Izzy Leung’s 36-hole score of 6-over-par 150 on Wednesday and UHposted a team total of 31-over 607.
Vanderbilt leads the 14-team field at 2-under 574 followed by Boise State at 17 over. Vanderbilt’s Kendall Martindale leads the individual standings at 5 under followed by teammate Cindy Ha at 2 under. Leung is tied for 14th.
The tournament closes Thursday with an 18-hole final round.
» The Rainbow Warrior golf team finished 16th at the Bill Cullum Invitational, which concluded Tuesday in Simi Valley, Calif. Scotty Yamashita led UHwith a three-round total of 2-over-par 218 and finished 31st. Skye Inakoshi posted the team’s best 18 holes of the tournament with an opening-round 67.
SWIMMING AND DIVING
Wahine open at SDSU
The UH women’s swimming team opens its schedule with a meet at San Diego State on Friday.
Senior Jasmine Alkhaldi leads the Rainbow Wahine into the season. Alkhaldi set the MPSFchampionship record in the 100 freestyle last season and posted a personal best in the 200 freestyle while representing the Philippines at the Asian Games last month to qualify for next year’s FINA World Championships.
Junior diver Lauren Hall also returns after qualifying for the NCAAchampionships last season.
CROSS COUNTRY
UH heads to North Shore
The Rainbow Wahine cross country team closes the regular season on Saturday in the HPUInvitational at Kahuku Golf Course.
Freshman Montana Martinez has paced UH throughout the season and was the team’s top finisher again in the Bronco Invitational last Saturday in Sunnyvale, Calif. Martinez finished the 6K course in a season-best 23 minutes, 20.4 seconds and placed 19th.
Saturday’s meet will be UH’s final tune-up prior to the Big West championship set for Nov. 1 in Riverside, Calif.
