The 5 p.m. KITV newscast did not air Friday due to technical problems in the master control room, said Andrew Jackson, station president and general manager.
Instead, the ABC-affiliate station picked up a live feed of the San Francisco Giants-Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game, which showed an NBC peacock logo. The station has the rights to air Giants baseball games, Jackson said.
Technicians fixed the problem in time to air the 6 p.m. newscast, and baseball fans were directed to KITV’s digital channel 126 to watch the end of the Giants game.
Firefighters find man and 2 sons on trail in Kula
A Maui father and his two sons were rescued Thursday from a hiking trail at Polipoli Spring in Kula.

The Fire Department sent out a helicopter with a rescue crew, which located the man, 44, his 6- and 8-year-old sons, and their dog on a boundary trail. They met up with the party and walked them out to the road just before dark, Maui officials said in a news release. No one was injured.
