Clare-Marie Anderson’s path to volleyball wasn’t accidental.
Father, Jay, was an All-American for Pepperdine, winning the 1978 NCAA title and being named to the all-tournament team.
The family tree has another branch of athletic greatness as evidenced by her father’s full name: James Center Anderson.
Great great-uncle George "Dad" Center was the late legendary swim coach for Outrigger Canoe Club and International Swimming Hall of Fame inductee who developed a number of Olympians, including Duke Kahanamoku and Buster Crabbe.
Anderson spent eight of her first nine years living on Molokai. It’s where her dream to play for Hawaii first took root.
"Over there, everyone watches the Wahine on TV," the Punahou School graduate said.
