Hartong is Big West player of the week

Hawaii’s Emily Hartong captured her second Big West Conference volleyball player of the week award this season after leading the Rainbow Wahine to two road wins last week.

The junior outside hitter buried 20 kills to go along with nine digs and three blocks in a four-set win over Cal Poly on Friday. She added 16 kills and 11 digs the following night in a sweep of UC Santa Barbara.

Hawaii (14-2, 7-0 Big West), which remained at No. 8 in the latest AVCA coaches poll, hosts Cal State Northridge on Friday.
