Cook and Tiegs win Stanford Tournament
Hawaii’s top sand volleyball tandem of Karissa Cook and Brittany Tiegs won the Stanford Tournament on Sunday in Stanford, Calif. Cook and Tiegs defeated another Hawaii team, Katie Spieler and Nikki Taylor, in the final 21-13, 7-4 (medical forfeit).
Hawaii returns home for the Jack In the Box Sand Volleyball Showcase on Saturday at the Queen’s Beach Sandbox. First serve is set for 9 a.m.
Hawaii diver wins bronze medal
Hawaii diver Amund Gismervik took third in the platform dive at the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday in Austin, Texas. Gismervik, a sophomore, recorded a score of 446.10
UH coed sailors take eighth place
The Hawaii coed sailing squad took eighth place (169 points), while the women’s team finished 12th (237) at the St. Francis Intersectional over the weekend in San Francisco.
The UH coed team hosts the PCCSC Coed Dinghy Championships at Keehi Lagoon, April 26-27, while the Rainbow Wahine will compete in the PCCSC Women’s Championships on Friday and Saturday in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Vulcans softball team drops a pair
Hawaii Hilo lost a softball doubleheader to Dixie State on Sunday, 6-1 and 6-3, in St. George, Utah.
The Vulcans fell to 10-21 overall and 8-16 in the Pacific West Conference.
