One week after Mariah Carey’s debut at Caesars Palace, Jennifer Lopez has confirmed that she’ll become the next big-name headliner on the Strip. Beginning Jan. 20, JLo will play 20 dates in the AXIS Theater at Planet Hollywood through June 12, 2016, with tickets starting at $59. As of now the new residency isn’t expected to affect the schedule for Britney Spears, whose show is staged in the same theater.
Railroad Pass: Improvements have been announced for the little casino located just outside Las Vegas on the way to Boulder Dam. The initial work will concentrate on sprucing up the exterior, including replacing an aging roof that has leaked badly during rainstorms for years.
Slots rebate: The Downtown Grand is offering a powerful rebate deal for new players club members. Up to $1,000 of losses on slots will be refunded in free-play credits. The free play is worth just under face value, which means you’re getting close to a $1,000 free shot at hitting something big. Half of the rebate is given within 24 hours, but the remaining 50 percent is returned in two installments on future trips, so you have to be a frequent visitor to make it work.
Dead duck: Only a month after opening at the Rio, “Duck Commander Musical,” a production show based on the story of the family featured in the “Duck Dynasty” reality TV show, has closed. A replacement show has not been announced.
Question: How much is admission to the new Elvis show at the LV Hilton?
Answer: For starters, it’s not the Hilton anymore, though that’s what everyone continues to call the Westgate Las Vegas. And it’s not just a show. “Graceland Presents Elvis: The Exhibition — The Show — The Experience” combines an Elvis memorabilia museum ($22), a show ($59-$80) and, of course, a retail component, which has a cost that depends on how much you want to buy.
