Police arrest man carrying cash register
An 18-year-old Makaha man was charged with robbing a Waikiki bar after he was found carrying a rubbish can with the establishment’s cash register early Tuesday morning.
Jamal Dewayne Mank was charged Tuesday with second-degree burglary. His bail was set at $11,000.
The suspect was stopped on Seaside Avenue by police officers at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday carrying a cash register hidden in a rubbish can.
Officers found out later that a bar on Seaside Avenue had been robbed and the cash register and other items were stolen.
Police linked Mank to the break-in and arrested him.
In January, Mank pleaded no contest to a criminal trespasss charge and was sentenced to four days in jail.
Last year Mank also pleaded no contest to promoting a dangerous drug and driving under the influence and was sentenced to five days in jail and fined $100.
Car hits and injures boy in crosswalk
A car struck a 13-year-old boy Thursday evening at Mokauea Street and Nimitz Highway, Emergency Medical Services reported.
The boy was taken by ambulance in stable condition to a hospital, EMS said.
EMS said the boy was struck while walking in a crosswalk at 7:20 p.m. Thursday.
