Maui’s Kendall Grove lost a one-sided affair to Brandon Halsey in the main event of Bellator 137 on Friday night.
Grove (21-15) was beaten from the opening bell until the 2:25 mark of the fourth round when he succumbed to a series of strikes to lose by TKO.
Halsey, who improved to 9-8, was three pounds over weight for the fight and vacated the middleweight title despite winning.
Grove landed an upkick late in the first round that temporarily stunned Halsey. He also nearly locked in a triangle in the third round but couldn’t do much else against Halsey, who took Grove down whenever he wanted.
Grove drops to 2-2 in Bellator MMA.
