Snorkeler hospitalized in critical condition
Lifeguards at Hanauma Bay on Friday afternoon rescued an unresponsive snorkeler about 200 yards offshore, according to Emergency Medical Services.
The lifeguards brought the snorkeler, a woman in her 60s, to shore for treatment. According an EMS report, the woman was unresponsive but still breathing.
Shortly after 1 p.m., paramedics transported the woman in critical condition to a hospital.
Kakaako bank robbery suspect is arrested
Police arrested a 48-year-old man with no local address for allegedly robbing a Kakaako bank at 4:49 p.m. Thursday.
Police said the man demanded money and an undisclosed amount of cash was handed over to him. He then fled, police said. No one was injured.
Police located the man shortly thereafter and arrested him at 5:16 p.m. on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
Visitor to Honolulu park dies after fall
A 54-year-old man died after falling in a downtown Honolulu park Thursday evening.
Police said a witness saw the man fall and hit his head at 6:20 p.m. while walking in a park. The man was unresponsive, police said. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died.
The case is classified as an unattended death.
Man faces 8 charges after home break-in
A 20-year-old man was charged Wednesday with eight criminal offenses after a woman awoke to find him rooting through her belongings in her apartment on Hawaii island, police said.
John Small of Captain Cook was charged with burglary, credit card theft, unauthorized possession of personal information, promoting detrimental drugs, two counts of theft and two counts of breaking into a vehicle.
His bail was set at $68,000.
Police said that at about 4:35 a.m. Tuesday, a 75-year-old woman awoke to find an unknown man in a green hooded sweatshirt going through items in her Kealakekua apartment. After the man fled, the woman discovered that her purse had been taken from her truck.
Later, officers found Small wearing clothes that matched the description of the burglar and arrested him. Police recovered the victim’s property as well as property from another vehicle at the same apartment complex and 4.9 grams of marijuana.
