Woman, 21, indicted in Iolani Palace break-in
Drew Paahau, 21, was indicted by an Oahu grand jury Thursday after allegedly breaking into Iolani Palace in February.
A 21-year-old woman accused of breaking in to Iolani Palace in February is facing criminal felony charges.
An Oahu grand jury returned an indictment Thursday charging Drew Paahau with criminal property damage and burglary.
A state judge issued a $25,000 bench warrant for her arrest.
The criminal property damage charge alleges that Paahau caused damage to Iolani Palace on Feb. 8 exceeding $20,000. It is a class B felony that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
The burglary charge alleges that Paahau entered the building intending to commit theft. It is a class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
The executive director of Iolani Palace said surveillance cameras captured images of a woman kicking a door on the front of the palace with enough force to open it and break its glass pane.

The cameras then captured images of the woman and a man entering the palace’s Great Hall and attempting to flee as palace guards pursued and captured them. The man involved in the incident has not been charged with any crime.
The glass pane is an original part of Iolani Palace. It was transported from England to San Francisco to be etched in time for it to be installed for the palace’s opening in 1882.
