Man fatally stabbed at Ala Moana Center
Police are seeking witnesses in the stabbing death Wednesday of an employee at Ala Moana Center.
Maj. Richard Robinson said a local man in his 20s was found unconscious and bleeding at 3 p.m. Wednesday in a makai stairwell below California Pizza Kitchen.
He was taken to a trauma center and pronounced dead, Robinson said. He said the man was stabbed.
The man was employed at a business at Ala Moana Center, he said, but would not say which company.
A man who works at the mall identified the victim as an employee of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., but the restaurant manager would not confirm that. Police are asking anyone with information to call detectives at 723-3609.
Man ID’d as victim of fatal vehicle crash
The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 25-year-old Waipahu man who died after his vehicle crashed Sunday near the Pearl Highlands Shopping Center as Jordan Kakiva.
Kakiva was taken in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he died Tuesday night.
Police said Kakiva was traveling west on Farrington Highway when his vehicle went off the roadway, hit a tree stump and stopped in a ditch at 4:20 a.m.

Sewer-pipe leak spouts sewage beside highway
A leak from a sewer force main caused a sewage spill Tuesday in Hanapepe, Kauai County said Wednesday.
The raw sewage spilled along the shoulder of Kaumualii Highway near the Hanapepe fire station and pump station.
The spill was reported about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday.Crews finished repairs on the force main Tuesday afternoon, and by 6 p.m. the Hanapepe pump station was back in operation.
An estimated 50 to 100 gallons of sewage leaked out of the force main, the county said.
Woman OK after ingesting ocean water
A snorkeler is recovering after inhaling water and struggled to reach shore.
The Garden Island newspaper reported that the 58-year-old woman had been snorkeling in water off the Waiohai Bay area when she swallowed water about 15 yards from shore.
Kauai Fire Department personnel and medics responded to a call around 4 p.m. Monday that a woman had nearly drowned and required assistance at Poipu Beach.
The woman managed to make it back to shore, where bystanders and lifeguards responded.
School fair to alter traffic
Police will set up a temporary one-way traffic pattern on a portion of Kapiolani Street in Hilo on Saturday to accommodate traffic anticipated for St. Joseph School’s annual Country Fair.
Between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., traffic will flow in the Puna direction only on Kapiolani Street between Hualalai Street and Wailoa Street.
The fair will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
