Hot, humid rainy day in forecast
Another hot and muggy day with scattered showers is expected Friday as a weather system moving over the state brings rain clouds and humidity to the islands through the weekend.
Rain, falling at a rated of 1.5 inches per hour, prompted a flood advisory for the south shore of Kauai at 6 a.m. Friday morning.
The National Weather Service lifted the advisory at about 8 a.m. when the rain moved offshore.
Moderate tradewinds should help cool things off Friday, but the tradewinds may weaken on Saturday and Sunday and forecasters say there’s a possibility of humid, Kona winds on Tuesday.
The rains through the weekend will be mostly in windward and mauka areas, but some showers may be blown over the mountains to leeward areas.
Tradewinds will be light to moderate Friday, blowing at 15 to 20 mph with higher gusts.
