Mike Trapasso’s 400th win at Hawaii was extra special on Sunday as the Rainbow Warriors earned a three-game sweep of Long Beach State to get to .500 in Big West Conference play.

Jarrett Arakawa threw six shutout innings and Stephen Ventimilia went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs and three stolen bases in a 6-2 win over the Dirtbags.

Hawaii (18-26, 9-9) moved past Long Beach State (23-20, 8-10) into fifth place in the conference and became the first team to sweep LBSU at Blair Field in conference play since May of 2010.

Eric Ramirez and Marcus Doi hit RBI singles in a three-run first inning to give Arakawa (3-3) a lead before he threw his first pitch.

The left-hander allowed six hits in a season-high six innings with one walk and one strikeout. He went out to the mound to start the seventh inning but after tossing a few warm-up pitches, came out of the game.

Doi added a double and scored a run and Jacob Sheldon-Collins tripled and scored in the eighth inning to give UH a 6-1 lead.

Hawaii was 2-12 away from home and had lost eight straight Big West road games entering the series.

Ramirez went 3-for-5 and Kaeo Aliviado was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Hawaii finished with 12 hits.

Andrew Jones pitched the final three innings to earn his first save.

Tanner Brown (4-3) allowed four runs on six hits in five innings with two walks and two strikeouts to take the loss for LBSU, which swept UH in Hawaii last season.

Trapasso is now 400-386 (.509) in his 14th season as head coach.

Hawaii will stay on the road to play three games at last-place UC RIverside (13-32, 2-13) beginning Thursday.
