Flammable fluid allegedly used in attack
A 24-year-old McCully man has been charged with second-degree terroristic threatening after he allegedly doused a 37-year-old man with a flammable fluid Saturday night and threatened to kill him.
The victim told police that the suspect approached him for unknown reasons, doused him with the liquid and threatened to kill him near Moiliili Field at about 10:40 p.m. Saturday.
Police said they arrested Jamal Morris at about 11 p.m. near King and Coolidge streets.
The victim did not need to be treated by city paramedics.
Truck fire closes parts of Maui highway
Portions of Maui’s Honoapiilani Highway south of Launiupoko Park near Lahaina were closed for an hour Monday morning while firefighters extinguished an ice cream truck fire.
The vehicle fire was reported to be about a quarter-mile south of Launiupoko Park. No injuries were reported.
The alarm came in at 5:54 a.m., and the fire was brought under control at 6:36 a.m.
Honoapiilani Highway was partially closed with alternating traffic from 6 to 7 a.m.
Man arrested in threat, injury to siblings
A family argument ended with an Enchanted Lake man facing criminal charges after he allegedly threatened his brother with a knife.
Police said the argument began at 12:22 p.m. Sunday in a Kailua home where a 52-year-old man grabbed a knife and allegedly threatened to kill his 24-year-old brother. After the knife was taken away, the suspect then allegedly pushed his sister into a stove, causing a bruise to her right elbow.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of abuse of a family member and two counts of terroristic threatening.
