UH’s Brooklyn earns weekly BWC honor
Hawaii’s Jonathan Brooklyn took home his third Big West Conference men’s tennis athlete of the week award of the season on Wednesday.
The senior won his singles match in three sets and then partnered with Carter Lam at No. 2 doubles to win 8-3, thus giving Hawaii the 4-3 victory over UC Davis last week.
The Rainbow Warriors head on the road to take on UC Riverside on Monday.
Hawaii surfers fall in third round
Two surfers from Hawaii lost in their third-round heats in the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro in Australia, an ASP World Championship Tour contest, on Thursday.
Nat Young defeated Hawaii’s Sebastian Zietz 12.26 to 11.03, while Gabriel Medina stopped Hawaii’s John John Florence 16.44 to 13.00.
Hawaii’s Fredrick Patacchia lost in the second round.
