UH men’s golf team wins tournament
The University of Hawaii men’s golf team, led by medalist Ryan Kuroiwa’s 11-under 133 total, won the Aloha@Oahu Tournament at Turtle Bay Resort on Friday.
It was Hawaii’s first collegiate victory since 2004 and its first overall title since 2009.
UH finished with a score of 556. Brigham Young-Hawaii placed second in the six-team tournament, followed by Hawaii Pacific, Chaminade and Division III teams Whitman College and Pacific (Ore.) University.
No. 6 UC Irvine beats UH in water polo
Danielle Warde and Jessy Cardey scored three goals apiece to lead No. 6 UC Irvine over No. 10 Hawaii 9-5 in a women’s water polo match at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex on Friday.
Emily Carr scored a team-high three goals for UH (13-7, 1-1 BWC). The Anteaters (17-6, 1-0 BWC) racked up four goals in the third and fourth periods to erase a 2-1 halftime deficit. UCI goalkeeper Jillian Yocum recorded 11 saves, while UH’s Amy Carlson picked up eight saves.
The Rainbow Wahine will face No. 2 UCLA at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex at 6 p.m. Saturday.
