Sea Warriors sweep softball doubleheader
Hawaii Pacific rallied with 10-run innings in each game to sweep Academy of Art in a Pacific West Conference softball doubleheader Thursday in Brisbane, Calif., 12-3 and 18-9.
The Sea Warriors scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh to win the opener after spotting the Urban Knights a 3-0 lead. In the nightcap, HPU pushed 10 runs across in the top of the fifth inning, overcoming an early 9-1 deficit.
Celina Garces was 6-for-8 with five RBIs, Chante Tesoro went 5-for-9 with three RBIs and Alysia Maddison drove in five runs and scored four for the Sea Warriors (25-16, 14-10 PacWest). AAU fell to 13-30 and 9-17.
BYU-Hawaii wins PacWest tourney opener
Brigham Young-Hawaii defeated Academy of Art 5-0 Thursday in the opening round of the Pacific West Conference women’s tennis tournament in Laie.
The No. 4-ranked Seasiders play Grand Canyon in the semifinal round today.
