Tradewinds returning, but only for a few days

The first day of May should bring a sight only occasionally seen on Oahu during April — vog-free skies.
Tradewinds are beginning to return to the islands tonight as a weather system northwest of Kauai finally moves away.
Some lingering showers from this afternoon may continue into the evening. But as the winds shift from the south to the north east, windward and mauka residents can expect the usual tradewind showers in the morning.
But the tradewind weather will be short-lived. Another weather system is approaching the islands and the cooling northeast tradewinds will again shift southerly sometime Friday, bringing muggy conditions and hazy vog back to Oahu through at least Monday, possibly into Tuesday.
The weather service says this system may also bring some rain to Oahu and Kauai over the weekend.
Showers, some heavy, fell over Oahu Tuesday afternoon.

Schofield got nearly 1.7 inches of rain in the 24 hour period ending at 5 p.m., with most of the rain falling in the afternoon. Moanalua, the Oahu Forest National Wildlife Reserve, St. Stephens and Waianae all got a little more than an inch of rain.
Kauai also got some rain Tuesday with about 1.4 inches falling on Kilohana and .75 inches recorded at Puu Opae.
