Prep football: ‘Iolani runs by Damien

Yuuya Kato rushed for a career-high 138 yards and three touchdowns as No. 8 ‘Iolani overpowered Damien 48-16 on Friday night at Aloha Stadium.

As they’ve done in the past, the Raiders depended less on an aerial attack against the Monarchs. In winning their 11th game in a row over Damien, the Raiders got at least 97 rushing yards from a running back for the sixth time in a row. ‘Iolani rushed 43 times for 247 yards and evened its record in ILH play to 2-2 (5-2 overall).

Quarterback Reece Foy threw just 17 passes, his lowest total since a win over Hawaii Prep. He finished with 124 passing yards and scrambled for another 44 yards, collecting a handful of first downs along the way.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Raiders.

Damien fell to 0-4 in league play (3-4 overall).
