‘Swords get Florida Gulf Coast transfer
Three players, including a transfer from recent NCAA Tournament Cinderella Florida Gulf Coast, have signed to play basketball for Chaminade during the late signing period.
According to Silverswords coach Eric Bovaird, Christophe Varidel, a 6-foot-2 guard from Switzerland, has signed a scholarship agreement after playing three seasons at FGCU. He scored 10 points in the Eagles’ Sweet 16 loss to third-seeded Florida. His 177 career 3-pointers is second-most in program history.
"We are really happy Christophe has decided to continue his career with us," Bovaird said. "With graduating four senior starters, we were looking to bring in someone with some experience; he definitely has that."
Also signing are guards AJ Mathew and Kuany Kuany. Mathew, 6-2, is transferring from Toledo and will have two seasons of eligibility. Kuany, a 6-6 freshman, is from Melbourne, Australia.
