Victim of fatal crash identified
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 36-year-old Ewa Beach man killed Sunday night when his motorcycle struck a utility pole on Iroquois Avenue as Augustine Ahuna Jr.
Ahuna was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, said a spokeswoman for the city Department of Emergency Services. Police said the motorcyclist apparently lost control, struck a utility pole and was thrown. He was not wearing a helmet.
Excessive speed could have been a factor in the crash, although it is unknown whether alcohol was involved, police said.
