Waipahu man held in sex assault of child
Police arrested a 30-year-old Waipahu man Friday morning in connection with a sex assault case involving a juvenile.
The man was held for investigation of six counts of first-degree sex assault, six counts of third-degree sex assault, three counts of violating a protective and one count of third-degree assault.
The suspect surrendered to police at 10:30 a.m. at the South Beretania Street headquarters.
No details were released because the case involves a juvenile victim, police said.
Beating at bar results in assault charge
A Kalihi man has been charged with beating a 45-year-old woman repeatedly until she lost consciousness at a Kapiolani Boulevard bar in July.
Hanns Lafoia, 44, was arrested Tuesday based on several tips to CrimeStoppers. He was charged with second-degree assault. His bail was set at $25,000.
Lafoia is scheduled to be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. Thursday before Circuit Judge Richard Perkins.
In August, police issued a CrimeStoppers alert seeking the public’s help in finding a man wanted for severely beating the manager of Ellie’s Club.
Police said the suspect got into an argument with a club employee just after midnight July 8.
The manager intervened and was struck numerous times. She was taken to a hospital in serious condition with numerous facial fractures.
