Stratosphere owner approved for online poker

LAS VEGAS >> Nevada gambling regulators have approved a second company’s plan to run an Internet poker site in the state.

The Nevada Gaming Commission on Thursday approved American Casino & Entertainment Properties LLC for an interactive gambling operator’s license.

South Point Poker LLC was approved for the first license in August.

The corporation owns the Stratosphere hotel-casino and tower on the Las Vegas Strip, and two off-Strip Arizona Charlie’s casinos in Las Vegas and the Aquarius Casino Resort in the Colorado River resort town of Laughlin.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (bit.ly/RDsrfR)gambling officials were told ACEP plans to launch a free-play poker website that doesn’t handle real money by the end of 2012, and a poker site accepting real-money bets in 2013.
