Hawaii County police have arrested 10 people allegedly involved in a drug-related burglary ring with crimes occurring in Hilo, Kona, Kailua-Kona and Waikoloa, police said today.

Police Lt. Sherry Bird said tips from the public played an important role in dismantling this burglary ring.

“We are grateful to our community for helping to act as our eyes and ears,” she said. “Their help was critical in helping us solve this rash of crimes.”

Police made arrests Sept. 12 through Tuesday, and at least one man involved remains at large.

The crimes include burglary, kidnapping, assault, terroristic threatening, auto theft, drug and firearms offenses, hindering prosecution.

Police arrested Sept. 12 and later charged Joshua Watan, 31, of Kealakekua, with criminal trespassing, meth trafficking, and other drug charges, as well as burglary and four counts of theft.

Police also arrested Sept. 13 Curtis Hoku Kekahuna, 36, of Waimea, in Kalaoa and charged him with three counts of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, kidnapping, assault, terroristic threatening,  burglary and drug charges.

Also charged was Joseph Narzisi for allegedly kidnapping a man Aug. 21 from his Kailua-Kona home, threatening him with a firearm and forcing him into a vehicle where he threatened and assaulted him.
