Williams-Sonoma offers family cooking class
Learn to make a complete dinner a la Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa, at Williams-Sonoma’s cooking class Oct. 3.
The menu lineup features a salad with Creamy Mustard Vinaigrette, Chicken Stew with Biscuits and Chocolate Orange Mousse. It’s a family-friendly meal that everyone can help whip up.
The class runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and costs $45. Call 951-0088 to reserve a spot.
Japanese Chamber sets annual benefit
If you get jazzed up on the subject of wine, plan ahead and get tickets to the 11th annual Chopsticks & Wine event on Oct. 18. The theme of this year’s fundraiser for the Japanese Chamber of Commerce is "Wine … And All That Jazz."
Restaurants participating include Beachhouse at the Moana, Gokujo Sushi by Marukai, Gyotaku Japanese Restaurant, Hakone at Hawaii Prince Hotel, Kai Market at Sheraton Waikiki, Le Bistro, Mariposa, Pineapple Room by Alan Wong, Poke Stop, Five Star International Buffet, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar and Shokudo Japanese Restaurant & Bar.
Fine wine, sake and beer will be available for sampling from distributors Coastal Wine & Spirits of Hawaii, Grand Crew Wine Merchants, Paradise Beverages, Southern Wine & Spirits of Hawaii and Young’s Market Co. of Hawaii.
The event also features a premium wine tasting, "Speakeasy," that will spotlight five cabernet sauvignons and blends.
Proceeds will benefit the chamber’s programs.
The event runs 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $125; admission to "Speakeasy" is an additional $75. Tables are available for $2,500. Call 949-5531 or email info@honolulujapanesechamber.org.
