New England coach Bill Belichick noted Greg Salas’ versatility among the reasons the Patriots traded for the former UH receiver on Saturday.

According to ESPNBoston.com, the New England Patriots released former UH star wide receiver Greg Salas Tuesday.

Salas was a fourth-round pick of the St. Louis Rams in 2011 and caught 27 passes for 264 yards as a rookie. He was traded on Sept. 1 to New England, where he was reunited with his Rams offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who had taken the same role with the Patriots.

Salas, a two-time all-conference selection at UH, caught no passes in Week 1 for the Patriots and was inactive for Week 2.
