Man accused of killing ex-friend appears in court under security

Under heavy security, a 23-year-old Makaha man accused of killing a  one-time friend by shooting him in the head made his initial Honolulu District Court appearance today.

Chad Duran faces second-degree murder in the shooting death of  26-year-old Christopher K. Medeiros.

Duran, dressed in blue prison overalls, did not speak during his  appearance before District Judge Leslie Hayashi. Duran, represented by attorney Don Wilkerson, will enter a plea at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in District Court.

Duran’s bail is set at $750,000.
