Kapolei man dies of injuries from Hawaii island motorcycle crash
A 76-year-old Kapolei man died Friday of injuries suffered in an Aug. 29 motorcycle crash on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) at the 18-mile marker in the North Kohala District, Hawaii County police said today.
Police identified the man as Calvin B.T. Hoo. He died at 3:29 p.m. Friday at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.
Police said Hoo was traveling north on Kohala Mountain Road when he ran off the right side of roadway and lost control of the motorcycle.
Emergency personnel took Hoo to North Hawaii Community Hospital. He was later flown to Honolulu.
Hawaii County Traffic Enforcement Unit officers have initiated a coroner’s inquest case and ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

It was the 30th traffic fatality on Hawaii island this year ,compared to 15 at the same time last year.
