Darryll Wong, left, Betty Brow and Ed Keough to the Miss Chinatown Hawaii Pageant coronation dinner Oct. 27 at Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant. Wong was the guest of honor; Ho presented him with mementos commemorating the “Flying Tigers” units in China during World War II.

‘WILD PARTY’ A HOT TICKET AT UH-MANOA: Jonathan Clarke Sypert (Jackie), left, a featured dancer in the University of Hawaii at Manoa revival of “The Wild Party,” joined principal actors Leiney Rigg (Queenie), Lavour Addison (Black), Kyle Scholl (Kate) and Garett Taketa (Burrs) for a “post-show rap” with the audience after the sold-out performance Oct. 25 in the Earle Ernst Lab Theatre. The five performances scheduled for this imaginative and well-acted production sold out so fast that more were added. The last one is 2 p.m. today.

HILO HATTIE CELEBRATES 50 YEARS: Donald Kang, center, president and chief executive officer of Hilo Hattie, was congratulated by Gov. Neil Abercrombie, left, and Honolulu City Council Chairman Ernie Martin at Hilo Hattie’s 50th anniversary party Oct. 22 in the flagship store in Iwilei. Kang commemorated the milestone with Hawaiian music and an international buffet.

MISS CHINATOWN?HAWAII CORONATION DINNER: Miss Hawaii 2013 Crystal Lee, center, shared pageant tips with Miss Hawaii Chinese 2014 First Princess Tracey Zhang, left, Miss Hawaii Chinese 2014 Jessalyn Lau, Miss Chinatown Hawaii 2014 Jessica Cheng and Miss Hawaii Chinese 2014 Princess Maggie Liu after the formal program. Zhang entertained the crowd with her rendition of Pachebel’s “Canon in D” on piano, Lau performed with a Chinese sword, Cheng did a fan dance and Liu sang a popular Chinese song, “Sweet (Tian mimi).”
