Dinner to benefit learning center
Partake of the talents of local chef Mark Noguchi and his buddy, celebrity chef Lee Anne Wong, during the "Calabash & Cooks" fundraiser for Malama Learning Center, Nov. 2 at Kapolei High School Plaza.
The dinner includes cuisine by the duo and six other Oahu chefs who will be working alongside students and farmers to create ethnic dishes based on the heritage of each chef.
The event, running 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., will reflect the center’s mission "to educate the public about sustainable, healthy living on our island home."
Tickets are $35 advance through Nov. 1, $50 at the door; $20 keiki advance, $25 keiki at the door; and $25 students. VIP tickets for $75 are available through Nov. 1. Information: malamalearningcenter.org.
50 kinds of sweets at ‘Dessert Fantasy’
Are you one of those folks who orders dessert before your entree? If so, "Dessert Fantasy" is probably for you.
The Nov. 3 benefit for United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawaii features 50 desserts for one ticket price and two hours to enjoy it all.
Discerning eaters can cast their votes for favorite desserts presented by a host of venues on the island. Professional judges will be doing the same.
