Surely you know someone who’s emerged from Lent in need of a chocolate fix after six weeks of sacrifice.
If you’ve exhausted all the brands available in Hawaii and are in need of something new to surprise, forget the usual chocolatiers and gourmet shops and head to Emporio Armani at Ala Moana Center.
That’s right. In addition to Italian designer threads, you’ll find elegantly packaged chocolate-covered nuts, jars of chocolate cream, and designer pralines including extra dark chocolate spiced with Italian chili pepper and dark chocolate with candied orange peels and cocoa cream filling. At prices ranging from $20 to $60, they are as delightful on the palate as to the eye.
The Armani/Dolci collection marries the stylish sophistication of the design house with the equally storied Venchi chocolatier tradition.
The Italian chocolate house was founded by Silvano Venchi in 1878, and the dolci that form the Armani collection are crafted from 130-year-old recipes in the Piedmont style.
Quantities are limited, but you may want to go easy on these sweets anyway, lest you find yourself shopping for a bigger suit.
