Oahu under flood advisory because of heavy showers
The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Oahu until 4:45 p.m. because of locally heavy showers near the airport, Halawa, Pearl City and Waipahu.
Forecasters say a storm system moving away from the islands is creating unstable atmospheric conditions that could bring heavy showers through Sunday.
The advisory means flooding could occur in the affected areas.
Residents are advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff could also create hazardous driving conditions.
Forecasters say the advisory could be extended if conditions warrant.
