Roadwork to close lanes of Pali and H-1
State highway officials are alerting Oahu drivers of more possible repair-related traffic delays this weekend as well as road closures.
Pali Highway will be closed in the Kailua-bound direction between Waokanaka Street and Kamehameha Highway from 7 p.m. today through 7 a.m. Sunday, the state Department of Transportation said.
Also, motorists planning to use the H-1 freeway Sunday through early Monday morning could face traffic delays, DOT officials warn.
There will be multiple lane closures on the Ewa-bound H-1 freeway between the Pearl City/Waimalu offramp and the Waipahu offramp for viaduct repairs starting 9 a.m. Sunday through 5 a.m. Monday, the department said.
Two Koko Head-bound freeway lanes from the Kamehameha Highway overpass to the H-1 and H-2 merge also will be closed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
The roadwork is scheduled to take place every Sunday in April, DOT spokeswoman Caroline Sluyter said. The project faces noise restrictions at night, and short work hours limit the area that can be fixed at one time, she said.
However, working on Sunday allows the department to get four times more work done, shortening the overall repair project’s duration, she added.
