Unwanted and unused prescription drugs will be accepted for disposal at sites around the state Saturday as part of the sixth annual National Take Back Initiative.
The initiative is sponsored by the state and federal governments as a way to dispose of medications in a safe, free and anonymous way, thereby helping to prevent accidental poisoning, improper use of the drugs or contamination of the water supply. Tablets, capsules and all other solid forms of medication will be accepted between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the following locations:
>> Oahu: state Capitol, Kahala Mall, Kapolei Police Station, Marine Corps Exchange, Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange, Schofield Barracks Post Exchange, Town Center of Mililani and Windward Mall
>> Hawaii island: Army Aviation Support Facility and the Kona Police Station parking lot
>> Kauai: Kauai Police Department parking lot
>> Maui: Maui Police Department parking lot
