NEW YORK >> New York prosecutors say an Ecuadorean tourist has been arrested for running onto a U.S. Open tennis court while trying to get an autograph.

Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Wawrinka had just finished their singles match at the Louis Armstrong Stadium on Wednesday night and were still on the court.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said Quito, Ecuador, resident Damian Proano was awaiting arraignment Thursday.

Proano is charged with illegally entering a playing area at a major venue sporting event. No information is available for an attorney, and there’s no phone number associated with his address in Ecuador.

Authorities say Proano was grabbed by security and arrested.
